New York Native, Philadelphia Transplant, Karen Smith is a percussionist, playwright, director, producer, and poet based in Philadelphia. She is also the leader of two musical groups: Weez the Peeple and Sistahs Laying Down Hands with Love. Karen makes it a part of her daily mantra to stay creative by utilizing all the components of her artistry.
For more than 10 years, Artist Karen Smith has been taking her drums on the road with her movement (Have Drums Will Travel Immediately) and provided various rhythms for both local and international projects in the Tri-state areas, Jamaica, West Indies, Selma, Alabama, Houston, Atlanta, and the United States Human Right Network’s Conference. Currently the movement continues wherever the beat may take her!
